Under the direction of the Teen Services Director, the Youth Coordinator will assist the Teen Services Director and Family Resource Center (FRC) Manager with overseeing the Smart Choices Program for youth ages 13-18. This position will exclusively focus on implementing the Smart Choices Program and is responsible for the development and oversight of the Youth Led Projects, supervision of youth workers, workshop co-facilitation, outreach, and data-collection. The program includes four primary components: College Track, Vocational Track, Career Track, and Health and Wellness Track. The Youth Coordinator will assist the Director with the general organization, direction, and creation of new and innovative opportunities and activities for our youth within the Health and Wellness track of the Teen Resource Center. The goal of the Smart Choices Program is to build young leaders by informing and empowering our youth about their health and well-being through interactive workshops and youth lead projects using a youth development methodology.
This position requires a BA (preferred) or 2 – 5 years of college experience; 2-5 years working in diverse communities with youth; strong written and oral communication skills; ability to relate to the complexities of young people. Candidates must have the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, have a positive attitude, be a team player, self-starter, and have a willingness to learn.

Individual must demonstrate excellent organizational, relationship building, communication, and documentation skills. Must have the ability to interpret YMCA program philosophy, and relate them to staff and participants in a positive manner. Exercises mature judgment and sound decision making.
Job Responsibilities
• Assist with integration of the Teen Resource Center and other departments of the organization such as CARE, Just 4 Girls, and The Fellas program
• Assist with measuring the program’s performance through program performance methods and data analysis
• Ability to tutor youth academically, assist with writing essays, and advanced math (11th and 12th grade levels)
• Assist with the maintenance and operation of the department’s physical property, insuring club member safety at all times
• Understand and communicate the importance of health and wellness to youth
• Obtain further insight and knowledge on the subject of health and wellness
• Assist in community outreach with other teen agencies and community members to help support the Teen Resource Center
• Attend all meetings, conferences and trainings as required, assist with any fundraising projects conducted by the YMCA, and assist with all YMCA-wide special events
• Any other duties the Teen Services Director or FRC manager might deem necessary to the best interest of the Smart Choices Program and the overall organization
• At all times maintain a professional appearance and manner reflective of the high standards of the YMCA of San Francisco
